The title of the book is Voices In The Dark by Catherine Banner.
When you read the book, you won't know what's going to happen next until you read to the end. This book is a so-called continuation of The Eyes Of A King. The main characters are Leonard North, Anselm Andros , Maria Andros and Jasmine. Leo is Anselm's and Jasmine's stepfather. They live in Malonia. There are some people called the Imperial Order who wants to take over Malonia. The King's army cannot overcome the Imperial Order's force. So, many Malonians have to flee to another country. The Imperial Order wants to kill Leo because of what he had done. (if you read the first book, The Eyes Of A King, you will know what he had done) Leo has to sign up for National Service to help Malonia fight against the Imperial Order. But his wife, Maria Andros, is pregnant with a baby so he did not sign up. In the end, he is still forced to sign up. Leo is being sent to the munitions factory at Holy Island. The baby was born safely. Maria, Anselm, Jasmine, the baby named Harlan and Maria's mother go to Holy Island to look for Leo. However, the carriage that they want to take to the harbour can only take Maria, Jasmine, Harlan and Maria's mother. Anselm said that he would catch up with them and so he waited for the next carriage to come.
To know the full story, you can borrow the book from Yishun Public Library. I like the way the author writes her books. When I start reading, I can't stop until i finish the whole book. So i really urge you to borrow the book. You won't regret!
